Re-evaluating Kitchen Renos and Redecorating

I've been thinking (I surprised myself too.)...one of the biggest reasons I wanted to go retro with my kitchen is to save money. I knew it would also be fun and rewarding to research ideas and make a unique space out of a dull kitchen I didn't want to be in. My main concern is finding true period pieces without having to go the antique dealer route. Thrift prices are on the rise but I've really noticed a trend these past few months to mark up anything that a seller thinks is old regardless of condition or true value. With this in mind I've decided not to worry about being authentically early 1940's in my renovating but to simply be savvy buying secondhand and find things that I love and can live with, be it Art Deco or swinging 70's.

And so, on to my finds of the past few weeks!! No explanations needed!

Oh what the heck! Who are we kidding here? The dust pan with the sweet Dutch motif is marked J.V. Reed. Starburst clocks are very easy to find, this one is small and simple. I picked up the turquoise Fiesta mixing bowl for a whopping 25¢. I can't believe I found a turquoise phone! And scooby doo with his original tag from 1970 was a few bucks. There you have it!
